It is with a very heavy heart that I announce Disquieted Dreams Press is closed, as of 2/5/2017. This decision was not made lightly, however due to a variety of factors I cannot continue to run the press. All of our current releases will stay active for a short amount of time, however I will be releasing reprint rights back to the writers immediately. An email regarding this will go out soon. There are no outstanding bonuses at this time and because promotion will end effective immediately I do not see there being any in the future,
In October of 2016 I had a car wreck. It was not as serious as it could have been but I am still in pain. This pushed back a lot of the schedule and interfered with my ability to promote. My luck has only gotten worse since then and many things have come up that have made this press the last thing on my mind. That is not fair to the writers we exist to support. The one great thing that has happened in the last year is that I just started a new job. This job is very close to a dream job for me, however it will make it hard for me to support the press further as well.
I am open to offers on the press. I do not want much as far as money, just enough to transfer the domain and to ensure everything is legally the new owners. If you are interested please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org
Submissions for In Our Bodies is open earlier than previously planned 08/13/2016-10/15/2016. The release date has been moved back to 02/2016.
The reason for this change is the recent removal of the $10 custom ISBN option from CreateSpace. Now ISBN's for every release will be 10x the previous cost and we don't want to have to pay our authors less just to be able to publish.
Our first two releases have come with their own sets of challenges and rewards. After reviewing our commitments for the rest of 2016 we have decided to slash our anticipated number of releases from 6 to 4. This is good news for our writers, it means that we are committed to providing undivided attention to each work without risking overextending the press's resources.
As the press's owner I had one of those moments that every scientist in a disaster movie forgot to stop and ask themselves:
"Just because we CAN do it, does that mean we SHOULD do it?"
The release date for Skeptics Must Die is being pushed back from 07/01 to 10/01. Because of this we are extending the call for submissions through 06/01/2016, if you have a story you think will fit the theme please follow the guidelines on our call for submissions page.
Our newest release Ardency for Animosity is now available through amazon for $.99/eBook and $5.49 print.
We had 682 entries into the goodreads giveaway! Our winners book was shipped today and is scheduled to arrive Tuesday (if weather does not intervene)

Our first release Best Horror Shorts: 2015 has officially been available for a week and the results are exciting.
While both the Kindle and Print versions have done well we are happy to say that the Kindle version was in the top 50 paid anthologies on our release day! We were also top 100 horror anthologies in print, while barely missing being in the top 75,000 print books sold on amazon our first day. In addition to great initial sales we have managed to hold on to great sales ranks for the full week. We are still within top 5000 anthologies (print) and very close to top 100 Anthologies> Horror for paid Kindle.
These may not sound like impressive numbers (we all want to be #1) but it is an amazing start to what is shaping up to be a great year for us and our authors.
In 12 hours we are officially open for business!
Isn't it terrifying on your first day of work at a new job? That is how this feels to me, like I am walking into a new career. Heart pumping. Palms sticky with sweat. Skin on fire with the electrical charge of adrenaline. It's the best kind of fear and the feeling we hope to bring to our readers. Isn't that why we read horror? To ride the endorphin's from a terrifying experience safely in our homes is one of the best modern pleasures I can imagine.
It is the same reason we ride roller coasters or go to haunted houses. You want to be frightened and we want to scare you.
Thank you to all of the authors who have already started their journey with us. To many more acceptance letters in the new year:
Rebecca Carter & the Disquieted Dreams staff.
As a side note: You will notice a few changes coming to the site over the next few weeks. Please give us feedback as to what you like (or don't like).
Submissions for the best of anthology close in 1 hour. Don't fret however, submissions are now open for our upcoming simi-pro paying poetry collection.
